Ultimate_Domain Library® is a domain mapping service that links websites owned and operated by the same organizational entity. By analyzing technographic attributes and searching for matches between child and parent URLs, Ultimate_Domain Library® provides a complete and accurate picture of an organization’s digital linkage, thereby creating a wealth of hidden value.
There are millions of companies that own brands with their own websites, yet they have no discernible physical location. Solving these linkage challenges creates valuable intelligence that can be leveraged for lead generation, identification of new markets and opportunities, evaluating risk, security, and more.
Input: Provide list of organizations including name/address/phone/country & domain or URL, where available
Output: The Ultimate domain plus any Level 2 domains and all child domains.
Optional: When requested, DBI attributes can be appended to all family records
Ultimate_Domain Library® can help identify M&A activity in private and emerging market sectors by tracking domain redirects. Since Profound regularly tracks these attributes, the intel can be analyzed and operationalized much faster than waiting for legal linkage to surface.
Ultimate_Domain Library® complements, but does not replace, traditional legal linkage. It supports corporate legal linkage by mapping seemingly separate records to a domain – the digital match key. It is the ideal complement to traditional legal linkage and can help resolve records that are look-a-like or orphans into their appropriate corporate ownership.

Many of the above organizations are well known acquisitions. This use case becomes even more valuable for M&A activity that is not well known, particularly in the private and emerging market sectors.
In this example Tide.com represents a viable match key for a multi-billion-dollar P&G global brand that has no physical location nor can be matched to a traditional business location identifier. DC maps domains such as tide.com, pampers.com, crest.com and over 1,000 other domains with pg.com – the primary domain for Procter & Gamble.

If the brand manager for tide.com signs up on your website for a white paper or registers for an event using the email address brandmanager@tide.com, and you are unable to map this email domain to P&G and give this valuable lead the appropriate level of account management, you may miss an important business opportunity. Leveraging domain clustering, tide.com will match to pg.com providing the insight you require to drive performance. On the other hand, if you incorrectly map joesmith@hotmail.com, based on the email domain hotmail.com, to an executive at Microsoft Corporation, then you have incorrectly assigned the wrong company to a freely available email domain. Profound distinguishes “Free Email” and “ISP Email” domains from corporate domains greatly reducing this situation from occurring.
Companies frequently set up distinct domains for the different countries in which it operates in order to cater to the unique characteristics of the people in that market: language, culture, laws, regulations, customs, products, services, supply chains, etc. Tracking the list of distinct websites provides, in many cases, rare insight into the markets that the company operates in. Additionally, companies register domains in different countries to protect their trademark and brand.

Parent Domain: dhl.com
Each of these TLDs (Top Level Domains) map to a specific country: jp = Japan, pl = Poland, ro = Romania, au = Australia, fr = France, th = Thailand, and so on. The full list of TLD to country mappings can be found here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Internet_top-level_domainsProfound currently supports three levels of Ultimate_Domain Library® Hierarchy:
There is the Ultimate Domain (level 1) which is the parent organizational level domain. These map to Level 2 domains. Which roughly correlates to the Ultimate Parent Company (level 1) and then to the most important subsidiaries (level 2). Typically, only the top 10 or so Level 2 domains are distinguished; any domain that cannot be allocated a specific Level 2 gets grouped as a Child Domain (level 3).

In the example above, volkswagenag.com currently (Jan 5, 2021) has 3,230 total clustered and child domains.
